UPSC IES 2020: Engineering Services Examination

UPSC has conducted an examination for engineering services every year. This year Union Public Service Commission will issue notification for UPSC IES on September 25, 2019. UPSC is the Indian Engineering Services Group ‘A’ level examination. It is also known as the Engineering Services Examination. Selected candidates will be posted in various government departments.

Candidates wishing to apply for the UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2020 will be able to fill the online application from September 25 to October 15, 2019, through the Commission’s official website upsc.gov.in. UPSC ESE Preliminary Examination will be held on 5 January. For more information about UPSC IES 2020, candidates can read this article carefully.

UPSC IES Eligibility Criteria 2020 (UPSC IES Eligibility Criteria 2020)

The Union Public Service Commission has set certain eligibility criteria that candidates must meet. The eligibility criteria are given below:

Candidates who want to apply for ESE should be

  • Citizen of India. Or
  • A subject of Nepal. Or
  • A subject of Bhutan. Or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India. Or
  • An Indian-origin person who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Age Range

  • On January 1 of the examination year, the candidate must have completed 21 years of age and should not be more than 30 years old.
  • Candidates are not born before 2 January 1990, and not born after 1 January 1999.
  • The upper limit is age relaxation for the candidates belonging to reserved categories.

UPSC IES Application Form 2020 (UPSC IES Application Form 2020)

UPSC IES application form 2020 will be available on September 29, 2019. The application form will be available on the official website of UPSC. Candidates who want to fill the application form must fulfill the eligibility criteria otherwise the Commission will reject their application form. UPSC ESE application forms will be available till October 15, 2019.

Application fee

  • Candidates who belong to the unreserved and OBC category are required to pay an application fee of 200 / -.
  • All women candidates, SC / ST candidates are exempted from the application fee.
  • Candidates can pay the fee by cash using net banking and through debit/credit card.

How to apply for UPSC ESE 2019?

  1. First of all, you have to visit the official website of UPSC www.upsconline.nic.in.
  2. Click on the application link “Online application for various examinations of UPSC”.
  3. Now, you can see the application link of UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2019 here on this page.
  4. You have to register for UPSC ESE 2019.
  5. Fill in the personal details on the application form and generate an application number.
  6. Save this application number for login and other purposes.
  7. Pay the application fee, upload the documents.
  8. Submit the application and save it for future reference.

UPSC IES Admit Card (UPSC IES Admit Card 2020)

The Union Public Service Commission will issue the admit card for the preliminary examination and the main examination three weeks before the examination. The UPSC IES 2020 exam will be held on January 5, 2020, so the commission will issue the admit card in the second or third week of December 2019. Candidates will directly download their admit card through the Commission’s website upsconline.nic.in. You have to bring a valid photo ID proof along with the admit card to the examination center.

UPSC has set three-stage selection criteria for Indian engineering services.

preliminary examination

It consists of two objective types (multiple choice) question papers which are of 500 marks. Those candidates who pass the preliminary examination will be selected for the main examination. One-third mark is negative marking for each wrong answer.

Main exam

It consists of two traditional types of papers in the engineering discipline, which are specialized with a duration of three hours and maximum marks of 600 will be awarded to the candidates who pass the preliminary examination who will be selected for the main examination. One-third mark is negative marking for each wrong answer. Category I Civil Engineering

Personality test

Personality testing focuses on character, leadership, initiative and intellectual curiosity, strategy and other social qualities, mental and physical energy, practical application strengths, and the ability to assess a candidate’s ability. It consists of 200 digits.
