Union Public Service Commission has conducted the UPSC IES ISS exam every year for the economics degree holder. The Union Public Service Commission has released 65 vacancies in Indian Economic Service (IES) and Indian Statistical Service (ISS). There are 32 vacancies for UPSC IES and 33 vacancies for the UPSC ISS. Candidates who are wishing to apply for ISS and IES could apply online by April 16, 2019, from the official website of UPSC.

Applications from for Indian Economics Services / Indian Statistical Services were issued from March 20, 2019, to April 16, 2019. The commission will conduct the UPSC IES/ISS examination on June 28, 2019. Candidate can read this article for more information about UPSC IES/ISS 2019.

UPSC IES ISS 2019

  • Candidate must be a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal or a subject of Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee.
  • Candidates must be completed 21 years of age.
  • Candidates must have a degree in Economics or in Statistics/Mathematical.

UPSC IES ISS Vacancy Details 2019

Union Public Service Commission released an official notification on March 20, 2019. According to UPSC IES/ISS notification, the Commission will conduct the examination for 65 UPSC IES/ISS post.

UPSC IES ISS Eligibility Criteria 2019

The Commission has set certain eligibility criteria for the recruitment of Indian Economic Service / Indian Statistical Service. Candidates wishing to join UPSC IES / ISS meet eligibility criteria which have been prescribed by the Commission.

UPSC IES ISS Nationality

Candidate must be:

  • A citizen of India. Or
  • A subject of Nepal. Or
  • A subject of Bhutan. Or
  • A Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India. Or
  • An Indian origin person who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

UPSC IES ISS Age Limit

  • On August 1st of the examination year, the candidate has completed 21 years of age and the candidate should not be 30 years of age.
  • Candidates have not been born before August 2, 1989, and have not been born after August 1, 1998.

UPSC IES ISS Educational Qualification 2019

For the post of Indian Economic Services

  • Candidate must have a post-graduation degree in Economics / Applied Economics / Business Economics / Econometrics from the recognized university of India.

For the post of Indian Statistical Services

  • Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in Statistics / Mathematical Statistics / Applied Statistics from the recognized university of India. Or
  • Candidate must have a Master’s degree in Statistics / Mathematical Statistics / Applied Statistics from the recognized university of India.

UPSC IES ISS Application Form 2019

Union Public Service Commission had released the application for IES / ISS on March 20, 2019. The candidate could fill their application form from the official website of UPSC i.e upsconline.nic.in.

Application fee

  • Candidates who belong to Unreserved and OBC category are required to pay ₹200/- application fee.
  • All-female candidates, SC/ST candidates are exempted from the application fee.
  • Candidates can pay the fee by cash, by using the net banking and through debit/credit card.

How to apply for UPSC IES/ISS?

The candidates who wish to fill the application form of UPSC IES/ISS can follow the steps given below:

  1. First of all, you must go to UPSC’s official website upsconline.nic.in.
  2. Click on the application link “Online application for various examinations of UPSC”.
  3. Now, you can see the application link of UPSC IES/ISS201 9 here on this page.
  4. You have to register for UPSC IES/ISS 2019.
  5. Fill in the personal details on the application form and generate an application number.
  6. Save this application number for login and other purposes.
  7. Pay application fee, upload documents.
  8. Submit the application and save it for future reference.

UPSC IES ISS Admit card 2019

Commission has released the admit card for IES/ISS examination on June 8, 2019. Candidates who have applied for IES / ISS can download their Admit Card from the official website. Candidates must log on to the site with their login credentials like registration number or roll number. Candidates are advised to take valid photo identity card along with the Admit Card in the examination centre.

UPSC IES ISS Exam Pattern and Selection Process

Candidates who wish to join IES/ISS have to clear the two-stage selection process i.e. Written examination and Viva Voca.

Part I – Written Examination

The written examination consists of maximum1000 marks. There are six subjects in Part I exam.

  • Statistics I and II will be objective questions (80 questions with a maximum of 200 marks in each question paper). For this UPSC gives you 120 minutes to solve those question.
  • Statistics III & IV will be descriptive type having 50% short type questions and 50% long type descriptive type questions.
  • General English and General Studies will be similar to both the Indian Economic Service and Indian Statistical Service.

Part II – Viva Voce

The objective of the interview is to fill the written exam for the candidate to test general and special knowledge and abilities. Candidates will be expected that they will be interested in their subjects not only in the subjects of their academic subjects but also in their state/country as well as in modern science, wisely about their subjects. Ideas and new discoveries should address the curiosity of well-educated youth.

The technique of interviewing is not for a strict cross-examination, but through a natural, guided and purposeful conversation it is to understand the mental qualities of the candidate and its problems. The board will give special attention to the intellectual curiosity, the vital powers of assimilation, the balance of judgment and the alertness of the mind, the capacity of social reconciliation, the integrity of the character initiative and the ability to assess leadership.

UPSC IES ISS Result 2019

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will declare the result after the examination. UPSC IES/ISS will be available at upsc.gov.in. The Commission has released the results as a PDF file. The candidate must remember the roll number to check the result.
