Staff Selection Commission (SSC)

Staff Selection Commission is commonly known as SSC. It is an autonomous body that is mainly engaged in conducting the government competitive exam. Every Indian wants to work as a government employee through SSC. SSC organizes many popular exams per year for recruitment purposes eg SSC CGL, SSC CHSL, SSC Steno, SSC JE, etc. SSC recruits for all Group B, Group C and Group D posts in various departments.

History and work

SSC was formed on November 4, 1975, in Delhi. It was formed for the recruitment of employees for various posts in the Ministerial Departments of India. SSC has seven regional and two sub-regional offices all over India, which are located in Allahabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Guwahati, Chennai, Bangalore, Raipur, and Chandigarh.
