National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)

National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)

The National Institute of Open Schooling conducts the examination 2 times every year. The first examination is held in April – May. The second exam is held in October – November. Admission to the National Institute of Open Schooling can be done only through online medium.

  • Students wishing to take admission must first visit the official website of National Institute of Open Schooling.

Online admission

Stream – 1

Students wishing to appear in Secondary and Higher Secondary Examination are in Stream – 1. Admission can be done through an online medium in Stream – 1. The nature of admission for Stream – 1 run throughout the year.

Stream – 2

Stream – 2 exams are conducted in October – November. In this stream, students can take admission who have not passed or appeared in the secondary and higher secondary level examination from any recognized examination board.

Stream – 3

Through this stream, students can take admission in National Institute of Open Schooling On-Demand Examination System. This stream remains open throughout the year for students who have already passed the secondary examination from a recognized board and wish to appear in any one or a maximum of 4 subjects. Students who are not able to appear in secondary level public examination or pass the examination from any recognized board can also take admission.

Stream – 4

Through this stream, students can take admission in National Institute of Open Schooling On-Demand Examination System. Through this stream, such students can take admission throughout the year who have already passed Senior Secondary or above from any recognized board/university and to update their qualification in one subject or maximum of 4 subjects examination. On-demand examination system (ODES)

If the student is already a NIOS registered student at the secondary or higher secondary level, then such student can appear in the examination through the National Institute of Open Schooling On-Demand Examination System (ODES). Students can appear in the examination through ODES as per their wish. Students can appear in the examination on the basis of availability of seats in the examination centre when they are ready for the examination.

Registration for On-Demand Examination

To avail the facility of On-Demand Examination System (ODES), students must be registered as a bonafide learner of NIOS. Along with this, students must also have an enrollment number and a valid identity card. Registration for ODES is available only to existing students through online medium. Examination fees can be paid through credit card, debit card or net banking.
